Pregnancy & Prenatal Nutrition

The way you nourish yourself before, during, and after pregnancy shapes how you feel and how your baby grows. Our registered dietitians turn that responsibility into a clear, reassuring plan, built around real food and your real life.

Every Stage

Guidance for the whole journey

From planning ahead to healing afterward, we meet you where you are.

Before Pregnancy

Preparing your body to conceive: building nutrient stores, supporting a healthy weight, and getting key vitamins like folate in place well before you see two lines.

During Pregnancy

Trimester-by-trimester support that adapts as your needs and your baby change, so you get the right nutrients at the right time.

After Pregnancy

Postpartum recovery and, if you choose, nutrition that supports breastfeeding, energy, and healing while you care for your newborn.

Trimester By Trimester

How your needs change

Pregnancy is not one nutritional phase but three, and we adjust with you.

First Trimester

Focus on folate, hydration, and gentle strategies to manage nausea, so you can keep something down even on the rough days.

Second Trimester

As appetite returns and baby grows, we emphasize iron, calcium, protein, and steady, healthy weight gain.

Third Trimester

Supporting baby's final growth and your energy, easing common discomforts like heartburn, and preparing your body for delivery and recovery.

You Are Not Alone In This

Common concerns we help with

The everyday realities of pregnancy deserve real answers, not internet guesswork.

  • Morning sickness and nausea that makes eating feel impossible
  • Healthy, steady weight gain without anxiety about the scale
  • Low energy and fatigue that make the day feel long
  • Choosing the right prenatal vitamins and supplements
  • Eating well with food aversions, cravings, or a sensitive stomach
  • Nutrition guidance if you are managing gestational concerns alongside your OB
Our Approach

Registered-dietitian guided, physician backed

Your nutrition is guided by our registered dietitians and care team, within a practice led by Dr. Michael J. Nusbaum, MD, FACS. That means practical, food-first plans you can actually follow, supported by real clinical oversight.

We do not replace your OB or midwife; we work alongside them. Think of us as the piece that so often gets rushed at a busy prenatal visit: unhurried, personalized guidance on exactly how to eat and supplement so you and your baby thrive.

FAQ

Common questions

When should I start prenatal nutrition counseling?

Ideally before conception, so your body is well prepared, but it is never too late. Whether you are planning, newly pregnant, or well into your third trimester, we can help you optimize from wherever you are today.

Do you replace my OB or midwife?

No. We complement your prenatal care team by focusing on the nutrition side in depth. We are happy to coordinate so everyone is working toward the same goal.

Can you help with severe morning sickness?

Yes. We offer practical strategies to keep food and fluids down and maintain nutrition through the hardest weeks. If your symptoms are severe, we will also make sure you are looped in with your physician.

What about weight gain during pregnancy?

Healthy weight gain looks different for every woman. We help you gain steadily and appropriately for your body and stage, without fear of the scale, focusing on nourishment rather than restriction.

Can you help after the baby arrives?

Absolutely. Postpartum recovery, energy, and nutrition to support breastfeeding are all part of what we do. Your care does not end at delivery.

Do you accept insurance?

We offer self-pay options and accept insurance when your plan covers the services. Our team will help you understand your options before you begin.
